Inexpensive Ways to Increase Home Value

Many first-time home owners look for ways they can increase the value of their home before they commit to a purchase. Buying a home that is essentially perfect and without need for improvement can be easy on the pocket, but may not be the best option in the long-term. For the market value of a home to stay the same, or go up, the home has to be worked on and improved. This said, it is a common misnomer that the only way to make a home worth more is to conduct a large-scale renovation.

Having a finished basement, adding a room and installing hardwood floors are all ways to add worth to the home; this is true, however adding any of those features to a home can cost thousands upon thousands of dollars. Not every family can afford to pay for renovations of that caliber. Thankfully there are other ways one can make their home more aesthetically pleasing and worth more, without breaking a person’s pocketbook. One of the most common ways is to increase a home’s curb appeal. Curb appeal is what makes a home pop out to the viewer’s eye from the street. What’s on the inside of a home may add to its worth, but people that buy homes also like to have a house that looks great from the outside.

The cheapest way to add value to a home by enhancing curb appeal is to add plantation shutters to the home. Wooden plantation shutters, for instance, can make a home’s curb appeal skyrocket.

Plantation shutters can be purchased online or at your local home improvement store. They can be bought in various styles and colors for a price of as little as fifty dollars per window. Faux wooden plantation shutters are also available, but real wood will add the most value to a home. Rather than go into debt by planning for a home addition that requires a loan, home owners should definitely look into a wallet-friendly option such as adding shutters.
